When will it ever end?

This is our latest purchase. A Ducane natural gas grill (propane is for losers).

Ducane... because that's how we roll.

Mr. Right ran the gas line. That was hot.

This brings up an interesting observation though.

Did I bring some kind of home improvement plague with me when I moved out of my house?

We got a new water filtration system.

I'm hoping that the new water transforms me into a princess.

My expectations may be a little high.

I will settle for softer hair.

Did I mention this system is salt-free?

We live in a neighborhood where houses "don't need a water softner". In your face community board group.

This all was worked in around installing a new attic door so we can take advantage of all that storage space up there to put my crap stuff.

Is it me or does it seem like we are supporting the economy all on our own?

Happy Birthday to ME!

Cute, no?

This is what the man got me for my birthday. OMG. A Kate Spade bag. My first big girl purse EVER. I've been looking at designer bags lately thinking "hmmm, why do I never do that?". On Saturday at Nordstrom I told my sister that I would love to get this for my birthday (cuz you know I would never shell out hundreds of dollars on a purse for myself)... she told P at dinner on Easter.

:)

And now it's mine.

I've carried the same raggity Gap $20 purse for 6 years now. I've probably had 3 purses before that in MY ENTIRE LIFE. Time to get with the program.

So I did, in a BIG way.

They say that red is neutral. Now that I think about it, I totally agree. It does go with everything. I'm tired of carrying a black bag. I want some color in my life. Only problem, now I have to get a whole new wardrobe to work around it :)

ps: the picture doesn't do it justice, red just does not translate well with digital cameras

Horton Hears A Who

Saturday night we went to see Horton Hears A Who. We thought it was really cute. In the lobby they have a board for the movie Made Of Honor with a cutout of the bride's face so you can put your face there. Got this picture of my man with my cell phone camera. What a hot stud.

Happy Easter

Princess and I decorated eggs on Friday night. We had a Hello Kitty theme. That may or may not have been my idea. My sister was in town from DC with my brother-in-law. We picked up my sister from the hotel on Saturday morning and we went shopping at Somerset. We ended up doing alot of shopping for Princess. She is good at getting her way somehow. She is a power shopper. I let her go into Claire's by herself and pick something out. She got a Hannah Montana wig. Too funny. Couldn't get it off her the rest of the weekend. We went to dinner at Mountain Jack's with my family on Easter and she wore it there too. The Hello Kitty theme continued on Easter morning when the easter bunny brought her a Hello Kitty easter basket. I think that was a dead give away that perhaps the easter bunny was Me this year.

It's Disney not Texas!

We found out that Mr. Rights's work is sending us to Disney World! This is great news and definitely much more fun than what I was imagining. Pretty impressive that his work can afford to send everyone to Disney. I could iceskate in hell before my work would spring for that! Princess (to say the least) is way excited. She went to Disney last summer with her cousins, but this time she is looking forward to showing Disney to Daddy and Me. I'm afraid for Space Mountain though, the way she has described it. Crap. She LOVES roller coasters and nothing can stop her.

This will be a great start to the summer. We need to get some more away time planned, I'm hoping for some camping at Petoskey. I did this with my family as a kid and loved it. The beach, the camp sites, all of it. It's a great place for kids.

First thing I told Princess is SUMMER CLOTHES SHOPPING. She is all about the clothes now :) A girl after my own heart. I remember when she was a baby and couldn't care less. Back then, clothes were for wiping food on. They grow up so fast. To Princess though, it has been forever. She doesn't even remember a time before Me. I love to remind her that the first thing she said to me (I didn't know she could talk before this) was "... do you like spaghetti and meatballs because daddy is making spaghetti and meatballs". At 3 years old, I was impressed. Turns out, she is quite smart. I have a feeling she will be like her dad (Rainman) in that respect.

I will post the Disney pictures as soon as I can!

Losing Sleep

Princess says she didn't change our clock. I guess it was that clock fairy again.

Instincts are 20/20

When will I ever learn to follow up on my instincts?

When I see Princess with that sneaky look on her face, why o why do I always forget to pursue it? Am I lazy? Am I stupid? Do I just have a bad memory? Do I like to torture myself?

She was facinated with the whole set your clocks ahead thing yesterday. In fact, she snuck into our bedroom and moved our clock ahead an hour. Just in time for me to go in and move it ahead another hour. This means I got up at 4:30 this morning. I did catch her but didn't know I was catching her... if that makes sense.

I need a nap like those people at Google.

Totally unrelated. Daddy installed a new door handle on our bedroom with a lock (may or may not have been my idea). Princess was preoccupied with this but Daddy's response to the why why why was funny. He told her that we kiss in there sometimes and we don't want her to see us. Cracked me UP because she was totally mortified. I love that *gross* look they get on their face.

Later on I got a "yeah right whatever" when I asked her to go to the road to get the mail. She has now won herself the getting of the mail responsibility every day. No exceptions. Rain sleet or snow. It will now be her responsibility. Let the chips fall where they may (note to self: check the yard for missing mail).

I'm so glad I don't have to get the mail now. If I could only figure out a way to get her to wash my car?

Where is my tiara?

This house I moved in to has a water heater that is on it's way out. Luckily I'm the first one in the shower in the morning, so it's only an issue for me about the last 2 minutes of my shower. Princess (being a kid) should have no problem with showering at night.

However.

Me: when was the last time you took a shower?

Princess: uh, I don't remember

Me: that means you need a shower

Princess: why?

Me: there just isn't enough time in the day to explain why

Princess: I like to take my shower in the morning

(an obvious avoidance tactic that will not work here)

Me: there isn't enough hot water for 3 people to take a shower in the morning

Princess: then why don't YOU take a shower at night?

Me: :)

Me: because contrary to what you think, you are in fact not a real princess, this is not your castle, and sorry, but we are not your royal subjects

Princess: a look of confusion

There are ways to get around the incessant "why" questions my friends. And trust me, they will come. You have to be a thousand times more annoying back to get rid of them. It takes practice. But it's worth it.

Got My First Rent Check

It came in the mail yesterday. Strange to see her return address label on the corner of the envelope with MY address on it ;) But it is a good feeling to deposit that money. That's how we roll around here baby!

My latest find for the house

You have to love this reading light (when you lean towards the modern or contemporary). It is a piece of art I'm telling you. Halogen, directional, what more could you ask for when curling up on the loveseat to read Pillars of the Earth? If it vibrated I would date it.
I have this in my family room next to my cushy loveseat with the matching ottoman. Sonneman is the artist. Great price.
